Case Study Dehumidifiers & Fans: Neat Heat & Cooling was contacted on a Saturday for an emergency situation from a large contractor in Manhattan. A large residential construction project had a broken water pipe and they needed to dry out the area as quickly as possible. The leak began on the 22nd floor and filtered its way down the floors into the residential apartments.

The job was 99% done and all finishes in the apartments were in place. Our customer could not afford to have excessive damage nor lose time on their project.

It was imperative to remove the accumulated moisture from floors and walls as it could cause drywall and other building materials to warp and could have led to the growth of damaging mold.

We had equipment ready and dispatched immediately. We provided 1 dehumidifier and 2 floor fans per apartment to cover the affected areas as dehumidifiers are the most important tool to use for drying, in combination with fans. In total we provided 32 dehumidifiers and 64 floor fans. We also provided various lengths of condensate hose as needed to remove water from the dehumidified space. Within 24 hours of equipment running, the affected areas were dried out.


Temporary Dehumidifier Rental

With excessive humidity in a space we use refrigerant type dehumidifiers. Warm, moist air is drawn by a fan through an air-to-air heat exchanger, where the incoming air is pre-cooled. The air is then drawn through the evaporator coil which further cools the air below its dew point and water is condensed and collected into the drain tray. The air is then partially reheated through the air-to-air heat exchanger and fully reheated by the condenser coil. The air is, therefore, discharged from the dehumidifier at a slightly higher temperature with a lower absolute humidity. Continuous circulation of air through the dehumidifier gradually reduces the relative humidity within the area.

Neat Heat’s industrial dehumidifiers and fans were able to prevent serious problems that could have been caused by mold, mildew, or water vapor in the space. Our customer was able to complete their project in a timely manner and has continued to use our services for multiple job sites.
